Work out in style

So, with it being January and the time of resolutions, I thought an entry on how to look good at the gym would help any waning resolve you may have.

I'm going to do this by brand.  The first brand here is my favorite, Lucy.  Their pants are more comfortable, and fit better than any other pant I have ever owned.  They also last an extremely long while!  Definitely worth the money.  Here is a collage of a few of my fave. pieces.

1.  The Lucy Perfect Core Pant  $98.00 (and well worth every single red cent!)
2.  Race Your Heart Out Half-Zip  $89.00
3.  Cross Back Tank  $59.00
4.  Fit Squad Crop Pullover  $34.99 (hurry it's on sale!)

If you're unable to splurge on this amazing pair of workout pants, there is an alternative:  Walmart has some great yoga, dance and workout pants by Danskin that range from $12-$24.  I actually own a couple pairs that I bought so I wouldn't have to ruin my Lucy pants at work, or during hikes, rock wall climbing, etc.

As far as sports and yoga bras, well I wear only the Victoria's Secret Pink yoga push-up.  It is so comfortable, looks great, provides support, and I can wear it anytime, not just at the gym.  While you're on their site, check out their yoga gear too!  Victoria's Secret also makes some great workout gear!

Anyhow, that's how I try to get in a great workout, and still feel and look great!  I'll try and post an entry on some track suits, hoodies and sneakers that are great for working out, walking, hiking, etc in the next week or so.

Aloette

So, I have discovered a new face cream and cleaner by Aloette.  Though I still love Arbonne's FC5 night cream and eye cream...I love Aloette's maximum moisture complex as well as their moisturizing face wash!  It is winter, but according to my face it may as well be Summer!  I'm not dry in the usual areas of my face (forehead, nose and hair line) during this time of year.  Only Aloette can explain this, since up until I started uisung this product, I was dry as a bone!

I use Arbonne FC5 night cream and eye cream, but what changed me was Aloette:
maximum moisture complex and hydra-cleanser

Boots on a budget

I apologize for the lack in posting the past two days---it's been kind of hectic for this girl!

So, it's January, and we all know that Winter is a time for boots!  I don't know about you, but I love boots, and I also know that it can be very expensive to stock up a good boot collection.  Though, I suggest mixing up your collection with several boots that are inexpensive as well as a few splurges to give your look a nice edge, there is no shame in sticking to looks for less.  I'm only going to post photos of two boots that I personally love.  For less pricey footwear, I always go to ShoeDazzle.  If I'm tight on money I can still shop because all of their shoes are 40-50 dollars.  Typically shipping is free on purchases over $40, and their sale shoes are always great too---sometimes buy 1 get 1 free or half off.  Some fabulous deals, so go check them out!  Here are two of my favorite boots from Shoe Dazzle's boot selection:

These boots are $40 and $50 respectively.  Check them out!  Enjoy!

Lotions, lotions, lotions.

I'm generally a total crazy person when it comes to lotions.  The reason for this is that I have such dry skin, especially during the colder months.  In fact, I tend to use a lotion in the morning and one in the evening just to keep my skin soft and supple.  I have really taken to using aromatherapy lotions in the morning and evening (an energizing orange ginger in the morning to wake me up and a soothing lavender chamomile in the evening to calm me down and put me to sleep).  These two lotions that I choose are from Bath & Body Works Aromatherapy.  They make me feel great, smell great, and my skin hasn't been getting dry!  Now, those are just my morning and evening.  I have one other lotion that I'm obsessed with:  Laura Mercier tarte au citron body souffle.  I'm in love with the sweet, but citrus-esque smell.  I like to use this one for going out, or during the day if my legs are dry.  And lastly I like to use Crabtree & Evelyn's La Source lotion on my feet during pedicures, or on my hands---I keep some of it on my bathroom vanity next to the hand soap. It has a great, clean smell and it keeps my hands from drying out after washing them.

So that is it.  Yes, I have 4 lotions that I use quite often.  Keep in mind that I really only use the two consistently   I'm not literally putting lotion on 30 times a day, as it may sound in this.   Photos of the lotions are displayed below.  Let me know if you use any of these, or try them.  What do you think?

Beauty time for mommies

So, I am making a post for all of you beautiful mommies out there!  Though I have yet to have children, most of my friends do have them.  It got me to thinking about the lack of time most busy moms have...especially for things pertaining to skin and hair care, because let's face it, chasing kiddies around all day leaves a woman wiped out!  Here are a few of my favorite beauty tips for mommies, and they all involve baby related products that you most likely have around the house!

1.  Winter months are dry, and our skin suffers for it.  However, it really doesn't have to.  Instead of using the same (normal or normal-oily skin) wash you may use year 'round, try using a baby lotion, water, and an exfoliating cloth to wipe away dirt and make up.  I got this tip from my friend Nico Morley (read her blog, it is excellent!).  The lotion will moisturize your face, while the water and exfoliating cloth will wipe away any dirt, makeup, and dead skin cells.    Don't want to use lotion?  That's fine, use a moisturizing baby shampoo instead!  Most baby shampoos also work as body wash and are so gentle that they don't dry out the skin.  Next time you wash your baby/toddler/kid notice how your hands feel afterwards.  I'm willing to bet they aren't dried out or flaky   If you're going to make sure your kids skin isn't too dry, do they same for your own body (without even having to spend extra money).

2.  BABY WIPES!!  I actually use this one, and I have been preaching it for years now.  Baby wipes are great because they clean, and they don't dry you out.  I find that they actually remove makeup just as well, if not better, than any makeup remover I have ever used.  They never irritate my skin or eyes, and if I'm too lazy to delve into my nightly routine of washing and moisturizing afterward, I find that my skin isn't dry, dirty or breaking out the next day because of how effective, yet gentle the wipes are.  Now because I use these so often I do use the Huggies Soft Skin with shea butter wipes because they offer extra moisture.  Another perk to using baby wipes?  They are obviously a good bathroom wipe (rather than spending extra for the ones offered with the toilet paper), but even better they make a great spot cleaner!  Anytime that I need to quick wipe down my vanity, sink, toilet, tub, etc. for guests or whatever, I pull a couple of wipes out and I'm done in 5 minutes!  It's a handy fix-it for when you don't have cleaning time.

3.  I don't waste money on shaving cream.  My skin is sensitive, so it isn't enough protection, and it never prevents cuts or burn for me either.  My solution?  Baby oil!  Again, I have no kids and have used this one for years.  My legs are always silky smooth after I shave because of the oil, they don't get too dry or burned either.  You only need, maybe, a dime size drop per leg for this so it's a much better value than shaving cream.  I have taken to using Johnson & Johnson's shea butter baby oil gel, but really any kind works just as well.  I will warn you though, if you try this, switch to inexpensive razors because the oil makes them dull faster and gunks them up some.  However, it's still cheaper than constantly replacing expensive razors and creams that don't work as well as this tip, plus the oil actually works so well that I prefer cheaper razors now.

4.  Chapped lips?  Don't waste money on chap stick all the time, use an ointment.  I like Aquaphor.  I even have the baby ointment tube in my bathroom, but I do carry the lip tube (as well as Vaseline's cocoa butter lip jar) on me at all times.  Speaking of Vaseline, if you don't want to spend extra money on something like Aquaphor, then use the regular Vaseline or petroleum jelly that you probably do have sitting at home.  Even if you only use it before bed and after getting ready in the morning, it will do wonders for those lips!

Hope this was enjoyable and helpful!

Blood Orange

Like Ox Blood, I am loving Blood Orange.  It's bold and beautiful; it also makes a great pop color.  These items pictured are not items I necessarily own, they are only a tiny sampling of the color.  I'll soon be making a polyvore or something of the sorts so that I can make collages of entire stylized outfits.  Until then, I just want to post a color sample if you will.  I'll eventually do the same for ox blood too.

January 2013 Daily Treats 2

Okay, so this is not something very new at all, yet I still love this nail look.  Black matte nail polish with glossy black tips.  The black matte french manicure.  It can be done either of two ways.  With matte black polish, or with regular black polish and a matte top coat on the nail bed (excluding the tips), I like Essie, however the photo I am posting showcases OPI matte black polish.  This is not a photo of my nails, because in honesty I need to buy the top coat (I already have an excellent black polish--Licorice by Essie---so I will be doing this look using a matte top coat on part of my nails).  Once I test this look out for myself I will post my results.

Both Essie and OPI polishes run anywhere from $6-$8 depending on your place of purchase.  Have you tried this look?  Do you like it?  If you tried how did your nails come out?

Winter is sexy comfort

Now that we're into the new year we can also start padding our closets thank to all of the great sales going on right now!  I'm going to post a few items that I love from various sites & stores...some are full price and some are great steals!  Shopping in January, June, and October are the best times to mix up sale and full price pieces to give your closet the boost it needs to keep you looking fabulous year 'round.

1.  I am in love with this comfortable WildFox sweater.  It's $108 (which is affordable if you know anything about this brand), super cute, and comfy for Winter and Fall.  It can be purchased here, and is a great mix-in piece for sweat pants or yoga pants at home, but can be paired with leggings, jeans, etc for looking comfy, casual, and cute while out during the day.

2.  Okay, this includes a couple of items.  January and June are my favorite times to shop specifically because of the Victoria's Secret Semi-Annual Sale!  To go with the importance of feeling comfortable, yet still cute in the Winter, I am including a few PINK items here that I love.  I went with this collection, because though I did splurge on items from both Pink and Very Sexy, the Pink collection offers great sports and yoga bras that feel amazing for the gym, but look great under everything so you can wear them out.  There are also some great pajamas and lounge outfits too.  Also, last but not least, I should mention that Pink also has great sports team and collegiate wear.  Here are a few of my favorites!  They can be found in the Pink Sale Section...I'm not putting direct links past the main page because I think you should go look at all that is offered during this wonderful event!  I'm showing The VS Pink Yoga Push-up ($23.99); The VS Pink Perfect Zip Hoodie ($32.50); and The VS Pink Fitted Flare Pant ($32.50).

3.  Last but not least I'm posting two shops from Etsy where you can get some great accessories to help keep you warm in the Winter.  The first is Grace & Lace.  This shop makes the best leg warmers...all around $30-$40! They have several styles, I'm posting a photo of the Miss Molly leg warmers for $34. And the second is Nanokiki & Triko.  I love the gift set for $66.00, and it's available in several colors!

There you go!  These are only a few items, but they're great items to give your winter wardrobe the oomph it needs for the new year!

January 2013 daily treats

I'm back!!

I apologize for the lack of posting in 2012.  I have just been thoroughly busy!!  However, now it is the beginning of a new year, and new blog posts too!

This entry is the first of a month long series I am going to be doing.  Everyday I will post one (or two if they go together) item(s) that I love.  Along with each item I will also post where to acquire my goodies...because what is the point of teasing people with items they cannot purchase?

Enough with the introductions.  Today's item is my new favorite jewelry set.  These two items are exquisite together, hence why I am posting both.  I am including a photo of each item & links to the sites/stores where you can make your purchases.

The Michael Kors Astor Buckle Bangle which you can get here and here.  You can apparently also go to Piperlime, Amazon or Zappos.  I just prefer these two major retailers.  This bracelet comes in silver, rose, gold, and gold/rose (which is what I have pictured because it is my favorite).  This retails for $95.  Very affordable.

My second item is the Michael Kors buckle 3 ring set.  It comes in gold, rose, and for a little more you can get the pave set rings.  I prefer the less flashy rose gold to go with my bracelet.  You can acquire this here.  Any of the style can also be purchased at Saks. $65 for gold or rose and $85 for the pave set.  Also, very affordable, and absolutely fabulous with the bangle.

I hope you enjoyed these items!  Come back daily to see more finds & for other future posts!
